any body hearing anything- I was told by a MOTU employee that beta test is close to being released... wonder if Mountain Lion was already a known or if this will cause an redeployment?

just wondering- Having installed Mountain Lion, though I was told it seemed to be compatible with DP 8

If the testers knew they couldn't tell us. This kind of sums it all up...

As 7.24 seems to be compatible with Mountain Lion, it would be pretty silly if 8 wasn't.

more reassuring news from the Good News channel:
I also was on the phone with tech support today(1:30pm answered by a great tech,on the 2nd ring!)
I was also told the beta is just about completed and the release seems to be very soon!
I also asked if part of the delay was to get DP8 ML compatible and I was told yes that was a major contributing factor to the delay.
He also said he's hearing great feedback re 64bit operation etc....from the beta testers.
I also asked the tech if there will be any kind of 32bit bridge to give us compatibility with plugs that aren't 64bit yet, like UAD.
He couldn't actually confirm but intimated that of course there must be some sort of solution to allow us to use 32bit plugs in 64bit DP,I hope he's correct :-)

So Prime I take back what I said the other day regarding a release by NAMM,now I predict between Thanksgiving & Christmas !!! jk
;-)

Yeah ;-)
Since you mentioned it,I called back tech support to ask a few more questions and I spoke to another rep.
He also mentioned that the beta testing faze was just about concluded & he said he expects DP8 to be released within 2 months!
When he heard me gagging,he mentioned that was an "outside" estimate and he'd rather say the longest possible time frame so they wouldn't disappoint anyone. lol
So unfortunatley time will tell...........

Makes sense - if Apple releases ML, then DP8 is delayed. MOTU has a good track record of getting (most) things right the first time (unlike Microsoft). Be patient! Enjoy DP7 in the mean time!

I know that feeling - internet should have warning labels...

one solution  ________ :smash: _______________ :?:

well it would work..

I'm interested to see if they put any of my wish lists into DP8

non glamourous stuff like clip gain maths... and snapping stuff to the wiper..

*edie* oh yeah and an API like protools and Logc - so I can spit stuff to my timeline from audiofinder.. to the insert point... yeah yeah I can drag and drop... but thats tiring if you do it all day!!

I wont mount a lion any time soon
