If MOTU indeed has a hardware mix surface I'll be on it like magic marker on a tee shirt. If it's only 16 tracks, I'll consider getting two of them. We've talked about having a dedicated DP mixing surface (if that's what it is) for some time. Hello 2012 (or later...).
If this is rumor, I'll.... I'll.... I'll....

I scanned the back of the magazine . Not too savvy about posting images to this forum but maybe this will work?

Interesting product.. It gives us a glimps of the style MOTU would use to make a larger, more robust mixing control surface.. This one is clearly going after Apogee's interface.. A good move, IMO.
Pretty bright buttons.. What's not to love?

Not a thing. Like DP 8, I hear it sucks! LOL!
Do you really want to go there?

Wow. An oscilloscope onboard. Very useful to a guitar tech. Peterson Strobes display the partials which are so often out-of-tune.
I hope MOTU can offer more tuning options for guitar bands. But this looks great I'm not complaining.
Funny when Chrysler introduced their push button transmission back in the 60s, few bought it, so it was discontinued. Soft controls are the equivalent today. We want real buttons to push & real faders to spill beer on!
MOTU Product Managers did their homework.

Regardless of having other tools, this could be a great addition to the studio setup and/or mobile work, and might come into play at different phases of a project than a traditional rack like the Fireface or 828.

My first solo car (at 13) was a Valiant. I saw one parked with the window open last week. Those cars were so easy to hot wire and drive and damn the push buttons were fun!
That's the trans-míssióne over on the left... and the horn ring, OMG! The Horn Ring! ☺
