But it happens every 10 years that you have some weird screw that needs that one with the stumpy handle...

The problem is that we occasionally get "rewarded" for hoarding freebies. You need some ridiculous compression, then you go through all the compressors you have and find the one with just the right kinda 'stupid'.

When hard drives had less capacity, us audio people had to purge on a regular basis.

When you get older, you'll find the problem is that you keep acquiring screwdrivers only to find you already have six identical ones.

UVI is giving away their Analogic Piano 09 through December. You have to like their Facebook page.

http://www.uvi.net/en/vintage-corner/an ... no-09.html

I will admit that I would never dream of buying a sampled or modeled Roland EP-90 but free? OK. It doesn't sound bad at all except that the Harpsichord stops are much louder than the piano.

It says that you don't need iLok but that it won't install without the License Manager installed on your machine. Hmmmm... Then, after you install and have it working (I use UVI player to test), you get an email saying that UVI sent a license to your iLok account but, when you log in, there's no license. OK... more than one person worked on this. Anyway, it might be possible to use without an iLok account because there's no license to manage–at least through December, I suppose.

Someone without iLok should try to make it work.

Downloading it now. Might as well, I guess. :) Their terminology is a little confusing on their Facebook page (which I'd already liked). It tells you to copy a *serial number* yet all I saw was a *coupon code*. I copied that and used it to register and it worked, so I think they just mixed terms.

I haven't had a chance to try this yet, so I have no idea about the quality, but I ran across a free Kontakt piano library this weekend. In any event it's free, so I thought I'd put it on this list.

The Snoize MIDI monitor has always been my go to monitor, but I ran across this
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/MIDI-mo ... 5281?mt=12
and it has a few more options, and the price is right. Plus, if you look at the copyright date in the application you will see that it comes to us from far in the future, and maybe even another dimension.

Not exactly free, because you have to purchase a copy of the magazine, but the Brit publication, Computer Music provides a nice collection of exclusive freebies with each issue (hard copy or iPad edition). Includes some "lite"versions of paid plugs, but everything is completely free....no timed expirations or partly-functional demos. The collection includes both VIs and effects, available for both Mac and PeeCee (almost all 64-bit) and includes video tutorials on many. Decent magazine too, particularly if you're at all interested in EDM.

This, from beyerdynamic, says it simulates different listening environments. It's quite limited, and the graphic interface doesn't work in DP 8 on my setup. It does work in Logic and DSP-Q.

Thanks for that, Bayswater. Whether or not this will be useful to me is too soon to tell. So far, I doubt it. However, it does work just fine in DP 7.24, OS 10.6.8.
