MOTU ETHNO

Post by willheim »

So I had to remix a cue from when ETHNO worked and since some time has gone by I called MOTU - actually got thru on the first call which was amazing.

Some support guy was impatient with me and just said "well ETHNO isn't supported by 10.6.

He then told me I could update to ETHNO 2 which started shipping today, for $179.00.

Gee I can't wait.

You know, it doesn't look too bad really. Big library - full ticket is 379 or something.

Huh.

It does include a hugely expanded library. Some 21GB or so? Not to mention many enhancements.

It looks like a much improved product.
It is interesting though that the upgrade price I was quoted by MOTU last month of $195 has been lowered to $179.

Will, you can load Ethno into this and be able to keep using it: http://www.uvisoundsource.com/uvi-works ... icles_id/8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm a little peeved by the $179 upgrade fee.

I guess I'm comparing this situation to the Spectrasonics Trilogy upgrade.
They told me they were sorry for my inconvenience of not being able to use Trilogy and sent me Trilian for free.
It had hugely expanded content and a much better interface.

Obviously, that sets a pretty high bar.
I don't expect MOTU to do that, but some consideration would be appreciated.

This is just my initial reaction upon hearing of this.

Geeze, even $99.99 would have seemed more appropriate for users who had faith and bought the first version.
All is well

Any reason why this was in the DP forum??? I'm moving it to the Ethno forum.

I think the reason is that this is a major news blast for DP users who lost Ethno to Snow Leopard.

I don't know how many people are in that boat, but I presume that most of us use DP.

1. The question was for the original poster.
2. That's not really a good reason. It's an Ethno topic, not a DP topic.

I bought Ethno 1 from Amazon in 2008 for $269 not counting S&H. The update is $179. The closest I can find to a new version price is $395 MSR quoted on Mix online. This can't be right.
