FastLane notes sticking - High Sierra 10.13.6 - Mainstage

Post by keyboardjimmy7 »

I use MainStage with two keyboards connected to a a Motu Fastlane with a USB cable (USB-B to USB-C) connected to my 2017 MBPRO, 2.9GHz, i7 quad, 16GB. I've done about a dozen shows using purely MainStage sounds and there have been about 3 shows when a note gets stuck in a live environment. Most recent show, it happened twice. Changing patches does not help, the note sustains. I re-boot MainStage and I'm good to go. I have the latest Motu MIDI drivers. Anyone else out there succesfully using a FastLane on a newer MBPRO with High Sierra? Advice welcome.

-Prior issues I worked through on my own that may or may not be related:
1) I wasn't paying attention to which one of the 4 USB-C ports I was plugging the FastLane into. If you choose a different USB-C port on the MBPRO, Audio/MIDI Studio creates a different instance of the device. SO, if you don't want to re-assign everything, just keep plugging the FastLane into the same USB port.

2) The FastLane device would not recognize on the same above machine. Problem: If I plug the FastLane in first (both the MIDI cables and USB cables) before opening MainStage, the FastLane device is not recognized. After many complete hardware re-boots and software re-starts, I came up with a failsafe sequence that has not failed. First, open MainStage. Second, plugin the USB cable to the FastLane. Third, plug in the MIDI cables. IF I PLUG THE MIDI CABLES IN FIRST, the device will not get recognized.

Welcome!

I don’t know if you’ve figured out that this a users board but it is. Although we get—and welcome—the occasional visit from MOTU folks, posting here doesn’t mean that they will see it. It’s also quite possible that you already know more about the FastLane than any of us (I’ve not owned one in years).

I hope that someone comes up with a solution for you. In the mean time, do submit a Tech Link with Support at motu.com. If you’ve not yet created a user account and registered your device, you will need to do so.

Please post any useful tips that you learn as that will help others.

Thanks, much appreciated. Yeah, I wasn't lookin for any lighting fast answers. Just sharing my experiences and hoping to pick up a little advice. I put in a ticket to motu right after I purchased it on the no connection issue. No help. Cheers
