Setting proper volume levels in Mac Audio MIDI Setup window

Post by Oswald »

I have an 838Mk3 and Mac Pro - full system specs in signature below.

I am trying to do a thorough level calibration in my project studio and need some advice. When I select the 838mk3 in the Mac Audio MIDI Setup Output window, there are volume sliders for all available channels.

The default appears to be -10dB for the Main Outs, and 0dB (full volume) for all the other outputs.

Are these the recommended settings, or should they all be at 0dB or -10dB? Any advantages/disadvantages?

I can't seem to find any info on this in the 828mk3 manual. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
