[SOLVED]Ultralite mk1 Mac Pro late 2013

Post by tillets »

Hello, I own for several months now a UltraLite mk1.
I had a MacBook Pro late 2016 before, and no problems.
I just change for a Mac Pro late 2013 so I convert via a cable FW400 --> FW800 then with the Apple adapter FW to TB.
I have interferences.
My monitors are Yamaha HS50M + Yamaha SW 10.
I have 5 HDD plugged in USB, a HD TV screen in HDMI.
I am on macOS High Sierra.
I installed the latest drivers on MOTU.com
And that's it. :)

Is there any issues known, and can I solve this?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answer.
I don't really think it's a High Sierra problem but a hardware configuration problem.
I have tested High Sierra with the MacBook Pro 2016 and the MOTU UltraLite mk1 before and no problem...
Can you help me isolate the problem?
Maybe it's the ground somewhere... well I don't know well all these things...
Thanks in advance.

You haven’t really described the problem so that others know what it is. Interference can mean anything.

What exactly is going on? Noise? Audio cutting in and out? Distortion? Other?

It's a constant noise, a non stop humming, and a little whistle.

Electrical noise through the speakers or is the unit making noises that you hear from the unit?

From the headphones no problems, but the noise come from the speakers. As soon as I turn on the UltraLite even during the boot of macOS or Windows, the noise is there...

Bus powered or external supply? Whichever it is, change to the other and see if that changes anything.

Well, thanks a lot!! It had to be powered that's it... It was bus powered before. Thanks again.

Cool! You should be able to edit the title of your original post and add Problem Solved to it.

Here’s why that worked: The FireWire spec calls for 22V (or close to it) for bus power. Thunderbolt specs out around 7.7V so that’s the max you can have after the TB-FW adapter.

Glad to have helped.
