Preferred way to mix in headphones routing.

Post by Holiday101 »

There is two ways to have the main mix in headphones, I'm wondering which is preferred. 1) Phones assign to Main Mix or in CueMix Bus 1 drop down to Phones 1-2.

Thanks

That really depends on your workflow. Without having more info than that, I am guessing blind.

I monitor the Mains when I record and overdub with my 828mkII using a low (64K) buffer in DP 9.13.

I mix with a higher buffer setting but without headphones.

At the moment I am mixing in headphones. So essentially my master channel, what would normally go out to main speakers, is just going to my headphones. Perhaps both methods of headphone monitoring in this case are identical. As I just got the MOTU I was curious if one way was superior for some reason I am unaware of.
