192 HD firewire use

Post by alexg1200 »

Hello everyone I am new to the forum and I have a question in regards to my 192 HD. Am I still able to use the firewire port on a Mac without using the 424 PCie card? I am thinking of moving over to MAC from PC. I have the 424 PCI for my windows unit, but wasnt sure if I could just plug in directly into a mac via firewire port without using the Pcie card. Thanks for any help.

That's an easy one. You MUST have the PCI-424 card. It uses MOTU's proprietary "AudioWire" protocol, not Firewire. Sorry. :(
