I think my 828 MK3 died. . .

Post by zuul-studios »

My happy yet aging 828 MK3 seems to have passed on to Audio Device Heaven. I went to turn it on and all I get is a flashing blank green screen on its little display thingy. It's done this before, and all I did was turn it off, wait several minutes, turn it on again, and it would somehow fix itself. It ain't fixing itself anymore.

Might there be something I can do to fix it? Replace some kind of battery, maybe??

The 828 MK3 has been attached to my happy Mac Mini since 2012 (see signature line below). Up until now, everything was happy and alive with beautiful sound being produced, and music created. Might it be time to purchase a new audio device? (I'm eyeing MOTU's 828x.)

MOTU has a fantastic $99 replacement offer (you get a like-new refurbished one) - give them a call and ask whether they still support your model. 617.576.3066 9am - 6pm ET, Monday - Friday

I ordered a new 828x, which I'll happily attach to the Thunderport of my happy Late 2012 Mac Mini. Then, a while later, I came back here and read these two replies about the exchange program with MOTU. Ugh! (Timing is everything.) I might still try the exchange program and have a second device.

I am in the middle of a couple of projects that I hope (need) to have finished for the holiday season. The 828x should arrive tomorrow enabling me to finish them without too much lost time. (I ordered it Overnight Delivery.)

Wish I knew what caused the 828 MK3 to bite the dust. Oh well. It served me well for four years.
