UltraLite hangs youtube playback

Hi,

I have an Motu Ultralite mk3 connected to macmini through firewire. With latest drivers.
This is a scenario when problem occurs:

Watching for example youtube clip. MOTU is turned off. Sound goes through internal speaker.
When I'm turn on MOTU, and system switch device to MOTU, youtube clip stop. Nothing play. When I switch back to internal speakers, video start to play with sound through internal speaker. Switching back to MOTU will prevent youtube from playing.
The only way is to turn off MOTU and power on in once again ? It's really annoying. On El Capitan it has happened few time, but after upgrading to Sierra problem appear very often.

Is there any solution for this problem ?

Travis, this user and myself have an Ultralite mk3 (mine is the hybrid). The driver update showing on the download page is for the AVB and mk4 versions. Does that also work with the Ultralite mk3?

If you are describing another installer, where is that download located? The most recent driver for the Ultralite mk3 is from 2015.

Thanks, Travis. I knew something curious had to be going on. Now I do see that hovering over the Mac icon for the 828 mk3 etc. installers shows the Nov 1st date. I never noticed there being a difference before!

BTW - your phone support staff is the greatest in the world. (Yourself included.)

HI, I tried this drivers, right now they are official, but I need to revert back to previous version.

New drivers are unstable, my Mac start to restart every time just after wake up. Because of restarts didn't notice if new drivers resolves my problem.

I guess I should wait for new version ... maybe they'll fix restarts.

No, youtube sometimes stop playback just like before. Back to previous version, because of computer restarts.

I'm on Windows, but I do have a symptom occur similar to yours where the MOTU 828 mk3 hybrid will either stop working or will start crackling when playing back YouTube videos.

If I go into the Windows Sound control panel and switch the sample rate from, say, 44100 to 48000, and then switch back again, it starts to work again correctly. (Actually, in that case of switching up to 48000, it usually starts working fine right away without switching back to 44100, until YouTube sends me the next video whose audio happens to be at 44100 rather than 48000.)

I speculate that this may be because YouTube videos audio can come delivered in either audio sample rate. When I've been using 44100 and YouTube suddenly decides to send me 48000, it seems to disrupt the sync of the MOTU interface. Doing this switching back and forth sets things aright again.

I do not know how that might be accomplished on a Mac, but if you can find a place to switch sample rates in Apple's audio control panel, try what I did.

I just started experiencing the same problem; YouTube files wouldn't play through the UltraLite. In fact, DP wouldn't even boot up because it wasn't "seeing" the audio hardware. After rebooting the OS and preparing permissions did not solve the problem, I unplugged the DC adapter from the UltraLite and turned it on again. Now everything is back to normal!
