Ultralite Hiss

Post by Aaron Guidry »

Briefly:

Recording a MIDI track live, in real-time, to a Stereo Audio track using UltraLite interface.

Output: MIDI track is Analog 1-2 out.
Input: Stereo Audio track is Analog 3-4 in.

Getting what sounds like a high-pitched feedback loop hiss when the Stereo Audio track record button is engaged.

Why?

Perhaps you have a feedback loop going on between two of the mixes in CueMix? (I have definitely done that.) With 8 possible mixes, it is easy to do (especially if you use a loopback cable in your S/PDIF like I do to send system audio out to the DAW!)

In your case, if one of the mixes sending to Analog 1-2 includes Analog 3-4, cabling the two together will result in feedback. Why are you routing the MIDI track via cable? Or do I misunderstand that part?
Output: MIDI track is Analog 1-2 out.
Input: Stereo Audio track is Analog 3-4 in.
Let us know what you discover. Perhaps a factory reset of the Ultralite will remove any wayward CueMix setups internally - just be certain to save your configuration in CueMix first so you can get it back and do more detective work afterward.

Yes! The Output in CueMix was set to Analog 1-2. Upon changing it to Main Out 1-2, the hiss is gone!

THANK YOU!!!
