Correctly linking a 16A and a 24Ao??

Post by nickbaba »

I'm looking into getting a 24Ao to add to my 16A, to expand my analogue outs.

I'm confused about linking options - my 16A is connected to my MAC by Thunderbolt. In the manual it says I can link my 16A and a 24Ax via the ADAT optical, or via an ethernet cable.

16A only has 2 ADAT i/o of 8 channels each - so that's a max of 16 extra channels.

1) If I use an ethernet cable to link them via AWB, will I then be able to use all 24 extra outs?
Do I also still need to connect the channels by ADAT optical? Or is the ethernet cable all I need to use the extra 24 outs?

2) Does the AWB link only work under OS X Yosemite (and above)? Or is that only if I need to connect 1 interface directly to my MAC via AWB?

The manual isn't very clear on this.

Anyone know?

Thanks.

AVB via ethernet is best.

Thanks Doug

So I only need the AVB connection (and D-subs) to access all 24 extra outputs?
