Macbook pro trackpad and Ultra Lite mk3 not working together

Hi

Driving me mad this...

So when I plug in my MOTU ultra lite mk 3 the trackpad works - but in a very juddery, hopping around, unresponsive way. Its basically unusable.

This has the same effect on both USB ports.

Also:

Other USB devices (MIDI controllers) have no such effect. The ones I've tried are all usb powered.
The Motu is mains powered
Ive updated drivers and firmware for Motu. there was a specific usb moto update for captain or whatever its called. I've got that.
Ive updated Mac OS to captain - this issue predates the update however.
Ive tried a powered usb hub.
Im using the original power supply - it does feel hot though.
It has worked fine for years - I really don't know what has changed matters!

Not sure what else I can do? I can't diagnose if its a Motu issue or an apple issue

I have a MBP (MacBookPro11,3) with Mavericks 10.9.3 using MOTU Audio Installer with drivers 1.6.67918 and I have the same problem but with a Traveler (legacy). If I turn on the Traveler, mouse cursor is smooth but trackpad cursor is jumpy. If turn the Traveler off, both mouse and trackpad cursors are smooth.

Are you still having the problem?
