Ableton + Motu Microlite -> MIDI Clock issue at 20% CPU

Post by panzerkid »

Hey everyone,

im experiencing a strange problem since yesterday.

Ableton is controlling a few synthesizers and drummachines via a motu microlite MIDI interface for me. I usually record the audio with a midas venice f24 to an imac via firewire. Until now it worked like a charm.

Yesterday i tried to sync drummachines to a few audiotracks from ableton. It worked fine until CPU hit a usage of 20%. The MIDI clock from the motu got ridicolously out of sync immediatly and then just died alltogether.

I tried it dozen times and it always died.

Is this normal? And does this problem originate from the imac or the microlite? I've read that external gear should run fine with CPU usages up to 60% with a decent MIDI interface.

I guess the microlite is a decent interface, so whats happening?
And should 16 Audiotracks already eat up 20% of my CPU usage?

I hope anyone has an idea whats happening because its impossible to work like this.

All the best,

panzerkid
