Install Motu audio system for 828mkii has corrupted my syste

Post by madelefant »

I installed on a macbook pro 2.8 ghz with 10.9.5, the motu hardware system software for using the 828mkii. Since doing this (a reinstall of latest version) it get a train of messages at startup that it can't use certain components, it doesn't recognize the 828mkii at all, and it is perpetually indexing my hard drive. Anyone experience this?

Arrrrgh. That sounds like a drag. Ugh. I haven't had or seen that particular issue.

All I can say is make sure you run the disk utility and run first aid and repair permissions.

You may then want to try re-installing the MOTU driver. Maybe try creating a new user.

Also, let the indexing finish (even if it takes over-night). I'm afraid I'm not much help here.

That is quite unusual. I wonder what else you did?

Nothing I know of. I've tried repairing permissions, zapping the pram, reinstalling. Still has the same problem.

I'm using an 828 mkII on 10.9.5 and have not had any issues. Are you positive you didn't install anything prior to installing the MOTU driver?

This is a tough one. I suspect some kext files have become corrupted, possibly because of disk problems, or maybe bit rot. I think it is time to restore some system files via clone or Time Machine.

Yea the messages refer to kext files. I did a custom install of the motu stuff which excludes the microbook install stuff, and disk/permissions repairs. It is now working fine but still getting a few messages and one of them mentions microbook. So it appears somehow it has something to do with those microbook drivers. But as I said, it is working now. The device wasn't showing up before.
