828mk2 brief dropouts with OS X 10.9/10.10
Hi all,
I've been experiencing short dropouts with my 828mk2 firewire across OS X 10.9 and 10.10.
I've seen it mentioned in a few threads but haven't really found anything conclusive about it.
For what it's worth, I'm on a 2009 mac pro 4,1 8 core.
Drivers are up to date and firmware is 1.0.1 (I think....the most recent one)
The dropouts are just a brief break in playback, maybe one second, then it cuts back in and carries on.
Console is spammed with messages each time. I'll list these at the end.
Can anyone shed any light on why this happens or if it's an issue that's likely to be addressed?
If not, can anyone tell me what other motu products don't exhibit this behaviour, so I can make an informed upgrade?
Thank you all in advance,
Steenamaroo.

Any update on this?

Same problem here, only since I upgraded to OSX10.10. There sometimes is a high-pitched whistle in the background, barely audible to my old ears
Occasionally the audio even freezes completely and I have to force quit Motu Audio Setup and restart.

Really? Spammed?? It's there to tell you what's going on.Console is spammed with messages each time. I'll list these at the end
Post those in a Tech Link and see if MOTU Support can help.
v1.01 is the latest firmware and is hard coded in the chip.
My 828mkII works great in Yosemite. It must be connected directly to a FW port. I cannot find a hub that works with it.
This might be the firmware graphics bug that Apple will never fix. It is an issue with at least 14 different graphics cards that Apple installed in iMacs and Mac Pros from 2007-2012. The conflict is with Motu Audio Setup.app and how it handles graphics. Sometimes it would crash DP; at times it would crash my Mac with a crash report that I attached to a Tech Link.Occasionally the audio even freezes completely and I have to force quit Motu Audio Setup and restart.
The workaround is easy: Make certain that you have the latest MOTU drivers installed and quit Motu Audio Setup.app when you are done. You don't need it open after initial setup.

Wow - hope it's that easy! Will try immediately. Keeping my fingers crossed. The workaround is easy: Make certain that you have the latest MOTU drivers installed and quit Motu Audio Setup.app when you are done. You don't need it open after initial setup.
Thanks!

Hi Aidanzi.
Same problem, really?
I don't experience any whistling and I don't have to force quit A/M setup and restart, so it sounds like a different problem.
Mike.
I understand the information is there for a reason.
By spammed I wanted to make the point that the messages appear over and over, rather than once.
I thought it was more elegant that posting a stream of console messages.

Has anyone posted a Techlink with MOTU and, if so, what did you hear back?
