Ultralite AVB

Post by bayswater »

I see this new unit can use ethernet for it's main audio connection to the Mac when running Yosemite. That's sounds pretty useful.

Provides me with hope too, Stoivo.

Now, if MOTU can just get the AVB driver/s to accommodate an AVB-capable PCIe ethernet card on a non-TB Mac with a half-reasonable latency figure, my AVB-upgrade nightmare will be over.

Over at BeerGutz Mr. Miller said their immediate priority is more channels over USB, but that exploration of the ethernet connection's possibilities would be next on the agenda.

Fingers and toes still crossed...

My interest has waned on learning that the ethernet connection only works on newer Macs with Thunderbolt, even though the Thunderbolt port on the Mac is not used to connect the Ultralite.

It does seem awfully complicated Stoivo, even 'though I've followed that thread since day dot.

Hopefully as the system matures it'll become more setup / operationally-friendly to network luddites such as moi.

It'd be ideal, for a fool such as myself, if the network side of the system could become transparent somehow, or in my case, even disappear altogether! LOL
