Track 16 running cooler on a new Mac Pro

I'm not sure why, but the Track 16 does, in fact, run way cooler on the 2013 Mac Pro than it does on the 2008 8 core. Just sayin'

Which do you use with the new machine? Is it the same as with the old one?

It occurs to me that the Track 16 may have been drawing buss power over FW even if you had the external power supply connected. Since the TB-FW adapter only passes 7V instead on the full 22W available on the MP, this would force the internal switching to rely on external power only–same as when connected via "high speed USB 2". Mind you, this is a blind guess but it makes sense and is a logical explanation.

The Track 16 does not get recognized via the USB port for some reason. It's in the TB port with an Apple convertor (TB>FW 800). Your assumption sounds like a reasonable explanation. When I say cooler, I mean waaaaaay cooler!

Probably needs a powered hub as has been the case with other MOTU interfaces connecting to USB 3.

Um... no powered hub. It doesn't read the unit directly plugged into the Mac Pro USB3 port.
