Motu 4pre not installing on OSX 10.4.11

Hi there,

My system is-

Machine Name: Power Mac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac7,3
OSX 10.4.11
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.0)
Number Of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 3 GB
Bus Speed: 1 GHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.4f1
Serial Number: CK516JJ3RU2

I please could you help find out where Im going wrong with this 4Pre installation. Motu initially advise that 4pre needs OSX 10.5 to run.

However, in their Tiger downloads section they state-"MOTU and Apple have been working closely together to ensure a smooth transition to Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) for you". There are drivers, Audio installer 100915, and Firewire app 1.2.5 available for OSX 10.4.

After installation, the Motu software cannot see the hardware in any shape or form, despite being set to autodetect. The 4pre USB and firewire is recognized by OSX 10.4.11 in the device tree.

For me, the worst part is that I can plug the 4Pre into my 12 year old PC, and it works perfectly!

I would really appreciate any pearls of wisdom!

Ok, Ive sussed it.

Install- MOTUAudioInstaller55333.zip and the 4pre installed with no probs.

This installer is meant for OSX 10.5.8. Given that my OSX is 10.4.11- go figure!

A couple of things -- they're both OS that run on PPC. The 4pre isn't that old a piece of hardware.

Here's the link. I found it searching for the driver per your post. When I log into MOTU as usual, Downloads doesn't go back that far for me. I was looking for the 828mkII driver for OS 10.4.11 for my G4 (just in case...). Thanks!
