Motu interface live experiences/success?

Post by jazzyg »

Hi all,

I was a DP user at 4.5 on my old PowerMac but for the last year or so I have been using Garageband on my Mac Mini. I'm now ready to upgrade my DAW again and considering DP8 among the other usual suspects - I am UK based and there didn't seem to be many DP users over here, although that doesn't matter if it all works. I'm also considering purchasing a Motu interface with more in/outs. (I'm on a Duet version 1 at the moment)

I know there is a lot on Motu's promotional pages about this, but I was wondering who has real world experience of using a Motu interface live, as an alternative to something like a Mackie DL1608. Either with DP or using an Ipad to control the hardware as a mixer. Is it really as reliable and rock-solid as the pros make out on the Motu page? This is not for large scale concerts, more pub and club gigs and some school productions etc.

Any thoughts or experience appreciated.

Cheers.
