I just recently upgraded from 10.6.8 to mavericks. Because it was free, but mainly because I cloned my system to another drive before I did it...anyway...
I don't have a problem using the 828 in various DAWs. But CueMixFX doesn't open a window anymore. The menu comes up, but that's it. I've seen this issue in other places, but nothing that applies to my specific issue. MOTU Audio Setup (or whatever that is that optionally opens when you plug in the firewire) still opens (most of the time, even if I have to unplug it and replug it several times for it to do so), just not CueMixFX. I've downloaded the latest everything. I *swear* it worked once since I upgraded, but I can't get it to work any more. Ideas?
Thanks!
jeff

We need to know more about your system. This is why we put this stuff in our signatures. As you can see, I have an 828mkII and am on Yosemite.

Re: 828 mkii cuemixfx and yosemite
Sorry, yeah, as a tech geek you'd think I'd know that. I was just doing that at the last minute before leaving work...ahem. And also..wow. I've been calling Yosemite Mavericks all this time. Sigh. One of those weeks.
Anyway, it's a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5, 17-Inch (Early 2008/Penryn) It's been upgraded quite a bit, currently has 4gb ram and 1T hard drive (split 80/20 between OSX and Boot Camp Win7) Logic Board basically 1.5 years old. MOTU 828 mkii FW.
It's working now. Just an update in case any one else runs into this. Can't say why I did, but that's technology for ya.
After I noticed it wasn't working, I installed MOTU Audio Installer Update 55333, but that didn't help.
After that, I just completely deleted everything and installed the latest version (instead of installing with the older one in place). I'm still getting the error, "ErrorCode 4 in File FireWireDeviceImpl.cpp line 399 called from file I_FWAudio.cpp line 2204" sometimes when I plug it in (I have motu audio setup set to open when i plug it in). Even then, system still sees it. Closing and opening motu audio setup until it works solves the problem.... I can then edit the channel names.
Then I tried CueMixFX and...it worked.
So yeah. Technology.
Thanks for the help you most likely would have given if trying old faithful hadn't worked....

Re: 828 mkii cuemixfx and mavericks
I would open Console to see if something else is trying to load.
Another thing to try is to boot in Safe mode by holding the Shift key. Then reboot normally. This resets certain caches to defaults.
If you haven't run Repair Permissions lately, do so.
