Hi to everyone,
I'm a newbie member in the forum.
For my DAW I use a Motu 4Pre, I love it since the first days I bought it. But now I need to expand the number of my inputs.
I was wondering if that is possible using the S/Pdif digital input/output on the back on my Motu interface.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Enrico

Re: How to expand Motu 4pre inputs
Depending on how much you want to spend, there are a couple options.
You can just find a cheapo little box on Amazon with analog inputs and spdif outs. Search "analog to spdif" and you'll see some options. I'm not sure how well the cheaper ones work with things like external sync or being able to adjust the clock rates (44.1 K, 48K, 88.2K, 96K, etc.)
Another option is to get either a mixer or a mic pre with spdif outs. The ART Digital MPA II has a spdif out and has a good reputation. But at that price, you might be getting into the territory of spending where it might make more sense to upgrade your interface.
