Orig 828 FW chained to a mkii and i have to choose i/o dev?

Post by jmc44jmc »

I tried to get the most info in the title as possible b/c i did a search myself and had trouble finding the answer.

I had a windows setup way back with these same two devices that when I FW-chained the orig 828 to an mkii I would get 22 i/o (or 16 I don't recall but it was both)

But now I'm on Mavericks OSX and using ableton (64bit) and when I chain the 828s I have to choose between either interface as the input or the output instead of them acting like one interface. Not good. Although it would be interesting if I could load a 32 bit version of ableton and use both soundcards at once.

**the mkii is v1.01 firmware

-appreciate any insight.

Read about setting it up as an aggregate device - this gives you one large device with all of your I/Os.

Or you can use a hub to run the two as separate devices.
