I realize I'm a year late to the thread, but I'm trying to run down a fix for a blown FW port on my 828mkII, and 777artin38's reference above is as near as I've gotten in two days of researching.

Mouser returns 400+ results for "24.576Mhz FW clock", can 777 (or anyone) help me make a more positive ID on the part quoted above?

The spec on the board's TI TSB41AB2 IEEE 1394a cable tranceiver/arbiter states that "The TSB41AB2 requires only an external 24.576-MHz crystal as a reference. An external clock may be provided instead of a crystal."

There seems to be a 24.576MHz crystal in the board's Firewire circuit that would indeed be an easy solder job:

Is that the part I need? The crystal is labeled "24.576Y" but I haven't been able to definitively identify a replacement. Mouser Part #520-ECS-2457-18-9 looks darned close so I'll probably go ahead and order one of those and see what happens, but I'm way out of my depth and would greatly apprciate any tips of other info you folks might have on this.

Well, I replaced the 24.576MHz crystal today, but no luck. The unit still isn't recognized by my computer.
