You need to dial that sort of thing back, or you risk deletion. Consider this a warning.777artin38 wrote:Phuck Mike Halloran...

Re: Urgent Help required - MOTU 828 MKII
I realize I'm a year late to the thread, but I'm trying to run down a fix for a blown FW port on my 828mkII, and 777artin38's reference above is as near as I've gotten in two days of researching.777artin38 wrote: Good news is it will mostly be the 24.576Mhz FW clock inside your interface the problem. A 1.80$ piece you can find at Mouser and change it yourself if you can solder a bit. Shouldn't take you more than 15-20 minutes to repair.
Mouser returns 400+ results for "24.576Mhz FW clock", can 777 (or anyone) help me make a more positive ID on the part quoted above?
The spec on the board's TI TSB41AB2 IEEE 1394a cable tranceiver/arbiter states that "The TSB41AB2 requires only an external 24.576-MHz crystal as a reference. An external clock may be provided instead of a crystal."
There seems to be a 24.576MHz crystal in the board's Firewire circuit that would indeed be an easy solder job:
Is that the part I need? The crystal is labeled "24.576Y" but I haven't been able to definitively identify a replacement. Mouser Part #520-ECS-2457-18-9 looks darned close so I'll probably go ahead and order one of those and see what happens, but I'm way out of my depth and would greatly apprciate any tips of other info you folks might have on this.
Re: Urgent Help required - MOTU 828 MKII
Well, I replaced the 24.576MHz crystal today, but no luck. The unit still isn't recognized by my computer.cmayo wrote:There seems to be a 24.576MHz crystal in the board's Firewire circuit that would indeed be an easy solder job:777artin38 wrote: Good news is it will mostly be the 24.576Mhz FW clock inside your interface the problem.
