Ultralite MK3- How to uninstall all drivers for reinstall

Post by tipol »

So it seems that I have instances of old drivers still on my MB Pro 13". What steps can I take to remove all instances of the drivers and software cuemix etc, and reinstall the newest. Thanks!

Just run the new installer. It replaces any previous version of the software that is installed.

Roger, thanks, sorry for the n00b question, but I had some remnants of some old universal audio drivers from motu lingering that would open and nothing would happen. Just installed latest drivers all's working.

Now I cna't seem to get the firmware updater working. I got to the bootloader on the card, but the mac won't recognize once it has the initial instructions.

no your not correct when you install a new driver it does not delete the old one and sometimes this can cause conflicts.

this is from another thread

Factory reset the Ultralite by this process

Once the mk3 is booted up, press PARAM twice to cycle to the setup menu. Scroll clockwise until 'Factory Defaults' is displayed. Finally, press VALUE twice to confirm the reset wait
until it has finished initializing then switch the card off.

Go to Macintosh HD/Applications and trash, MOTU Audio Setup and CueMix Console.

Go to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions and trash, MOTUFireWireAudio.kext

Go to Macintosh HD/Users/Library/Preferences/and trash, com.motu.FireWireAudio

Empty trash

Download the current FireWire driver from Motu's website

Restart

Reinstall only the firewire/usb driver - being sure your MOTU interface is turned off.

note: also do this is before installing the new driver is to run the driver installer app
there is a drop menu for uninstaller run this to completely uninstall then restart
and run the installer.
good luck hope it works for you

The driver files are MOTUFireWireAudio.kext, Motu MIDI Driver.kext, Motu MIDI Driver.plugin. I guarantee that the installer replaces these files if they are already installed.
