New FW/USB Drivers

Post by Phil O »

I don't think this has been posted yet. New FW/USB2 driver on the MOTU site. Date on the file is 1/4/2010. Just a heads up.

Not good. I'm on a G5 Quad with OSX Tiger 10.4.11. Just d/led the new drivers.
BIG problems here - get grey screen of death.
Anyone know where I can d/l the previous drivers?

ok - I uninstalled the new drivers and re-installed the previous 1.4.9 drivers.
All is fine again. Definitely a problem with these new ones. Install at your own risk.
I'm waiting for a fix and a re-post at MOTU's site.

Ouch! Where did you get the previous drivers? The last ones posted on the MOTU site that I'm aware of were 1.4.23, and I check the download area fairly frequently.

Thanks for heads up. Guess I'll be sticking with the old drivers, which work fine for me.

Big problems here with the MIDI drivers. Causes system crash as soon as I launch Cubase (SX3.1.1). Unplugging Micro Lite fixes crash.

G5 1.6GHz PPC, OSX 10.4.11

Anyone know where I can find the old MIDI/USB drivers??? Have contacted MOTU technical support, waiting on reply.

Cheers,
Jase

Searched for older MOTU MIDI/USB drivers (the google comes good again). Deleted MOTU MIDI driver [HD-Library-Audio-MIDI Driver] and deleted [HD-System-Library-Extensions-motu.MIDI.kext]. Installed older version drivers and everything working fine again.

I have a similar system, but I haven't seen this problem. This driver version is working well for me. What kind of interfaces are you using?

Using the original Firewire 828 - always worked great- still sounds great.
All previous driver updates over the years have been a breeze - never a problem.
This is the first time - strange.

I'm using a PowerMac G5. The only problem I'm seeing is that when I connect an old original 828, it causes a kernel panic. So that appears to be a real problem. But I have a bunch of other MOTU interfaces, and they're all working fine with this driver version.

I can confirm that, and I'm on an Intel Mac. Kernel panic as soon as I turn on the 828 or boot the computer with the 828 on.
