1.4.20 drivers and AMS problems

Post by cuttime »

I loaded the latest driver package and whenever I launch MOTU Audio Setup or DP, all my MIDI connections become invalid (i.e. italicized) and my connections in Audio MIDI Setup vanish. The connections won't "stick" and I have to keep re-drawing them. If I re-draw the connections more than once, the AMS crashes. I reverted back to the 1.4.9 package, and the problem still persists. I've never had this problem before. A search around the board reveals AMS to be flaky. Any sage advice other than a complete re-install?

I've repaired permissions, etc., etc.

It probably has nothing to do with the driver you installed. Go to /Users/your_username/Library/Audio/MIDI Configurations, and remove any configuration files in that folder. Restart the computer, re-launch AMS, and re-create the MIDI config again.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Thanks for the "input". I tried your suggestion, and it did not help. I re-installed 1.4.9, rebuilt my configurations, and AMS worked. I re-installed 1.4.20, and AMs started to act up again. I'm back with another re-configuration and everthing works with 1.4.9, leading me to believe that 1.4.20 is the culprit. I'm going to notify MOTU.

Well, it works fine for me so I don't think there's a widespread problem.

Try this: Go to /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers, and move the entire contents of that folder to the desktop. Then run the new MOTU driver installer again, and reboot the computer. After the reboot, you should see a file named Motu MIDI Driver.plugin in /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers. Then re-launch AMS and create a new configuration.

Thanks again for the help. No dice. Going back to 1.4.9. I wish I knew what would be gained by this update.
