828MK2 Freak out on power/up no sound just beeps and clicks

Hi,

OSX 10.4.5, 828MK2 v1.01, latest drivers

i've had the 828MK2 for a few years now and from the early days it would sometimes freak out on power-up. All/some of the analog-ins lights would max out. Usually with a few on and offs it would regain sanity and work fine.

Since Tiger it sometimes would stop sounding and just beep and click. Again a few power ups would help.

Now no more sound. Just beeps and clicks.

If i play a clip in quicktime and switch system prefs between built-in and 828 repeatedly it will eventually sound but not for long.

Anyone else had this problem?
