So many audio dropouts...

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

So little time to fix them.

Track 16 continually crapping out on my. Not just in DP but all audio.

C'mon MOTU - build a better driver already.

Which driver? The Nov.1 version? 1.6 (71459)? I've been holding out on that one because of the crash on sleep reports, and no problems with the older 1.6 (64254) version. Now another reason?

I'd be willing to be the problem is DP 9.1 and not your audio driver. I'd suggest trying 9.02 and see how you fare. The new Pre-Gen system in 9.1 has been terribly problematic.

Does this vary by different types of signal paths in the project? For a while I didn't have problems with dropouts using 9.1 with older projects loaded, but recently set a new project where all the effects that would normally be inserts were via sends, and with that setup, DP became unusable. The problem didn't disappear with this same project opened in 9.02.

I'm also seeing DP drop the MOTU audio engine and revert to MIDI a lot. It can be reconnected easily, but the engine doesn't appear as stable as it was. This never happened with V8 except under Windows.

The signal is lost in iTunes, Safari, and other apps as well as DP. How would DP be affecting the signal if it's not running?

I suppose there could be problems with the combination of the MOTU drivers and OS 10.11, and other problems with DP. I'm using a class compliant USB interface and I only get disconnect and dropout problems with DP on 10.10. None with Logic, DSP-Q, Mixbus, iTunes, etc.

Haven't gotten that far as I'm on a non-computer project. Good idea. Thanks.

Keepin' an eye on this one. I v'e down graded to the driver cutime mentioned a while ago.
But Like amplidoo says, it may be DP 9.1.

Ever had any zipper / studdering? I occasionally get : hit play (spacebar) , and nothing happens, then after some seconds ( 20 -30sec) zipp all notes coming blaring out-MIDI & audio.

I can't see your sig as I'm using Tapatalk right now. Are you using PCI interfaces by any chance?

All, OK. I was wondering, because it seems with DP9, I've had times where I get "clock missing" errors, and I can't recall ever getting them before. The other night when it happened I had to restart my Mac, and then it was fine.

What the heck?

try new USB cable? try downgrading driver?

Depending on my boot sequence( comp/ interface), it can be futile. 828x needs to be completely booted before computer, or completely after OS is loaded, or I have to restart comp or reboot 828x.
Many times had iTunes restart the computer on a haphazard boot sequence , at least it will produce a crash report confirming the driver failed to load.

Really odd!

I can still get my 1224 (PCIe) and boot any which way with no issues.
