So I purchased Ethno Instrument...

and it won't work. After four repeated installs on my PC and a friend's G5, I gave up. On my computer I received a message that read "d3d9.dll not found. Reinstalling the software might help fix the problem." It didn't.

On the G5 we can start it, but then it just shuts down right away.

Both of these run MSI just fine.

Sorry, I know this isn't the Ethno board, I just didn't see where to post this.

Has anyone had any luck with it?

I am having a wonderful time of it on my 800 MHz G4 iMac. Both in standalone mode and as a plug-in. It seems way less CPU-intensive than Symphonic Instrument, for the most part. I've even been able to use the convolution reverbs without crashing!

You can try to install DirectX 9 (you can download it from microsoft.com, or use Windows Update) to fix this problem.

Just out of curiosity, what is your graphic hardware? Have you installed the latest drivers for you video card? It might be related I MSI and Ethno require OpenGL to use hardware acceleration, and some video drivers have implemented OpenGL support over Direct3D...

However you should probably contact MOTU about this issue so that they know about it.

Wow. I downloaded directx 9 and it worked. Thank you so much! I keep my PC away from the internet (because I download dumb stuff) and never figured it would be related to directX9. Thank you so much! I'm having fun now with Ethno!

I will post the info on my video card here in a few hours. Thanks!

That's nice to hear. Can you let us know what you think of the software and the sounds once you've had some experience with it? :)
