Maybe not, but I wouldn't spend that sort of money on something to create a simple lead sheet. I can do that with DP, Logic, or MuseScore (free). I assumed this was for grander things to do with engraving and polish.

One post says: "This usually signifies that their capital is either running out, or the capital provider is pushing them to release it, even if it's not finished."

That was my hunch.

Oops, I missed the part about not being able to do lead sheets. Count me out, since that is my primary interest, due to my jazz combo's needs.

Quite likely. But if you're suggesting that Yamaha would just keep it going because they have lots of money, it doesn't work that way. The funding in Yamaha like any other large corporation will be run by accountants who manage budgets down to a project level from a distance and kill anything with a poor ROI.

Yamaha didn't where it is today by funding money losers.

And what was that PC app for touch screens? Score? I'd go there before I'd trust this Steinberg thing.

I have no intention of buying a Windows machine just to try Score but I do like what I've seen. Even right handed, I can still do note entry faster on paper than on my Mac—it looks horrible though.

I'd contribute to a crowd source fund for someone who wants to try that on the 12.9" iPad Pro. The $300 crossgrade for Dorico would be better spent there, I think. I have other reasons for budgeting the new iPad in the near future so this would be icing on the cake.

Oh, how confusing -- I thought this new notation app was the one Steinberg (not Sternberg as in the title!) was doing. I had forgotten about Score.

Yamaha owns Steinberg outright. Would they fund two competing new products? Maybe to see which one does the best, then kill the other? Not an unheard of tactic, as I can say from my days at Digital Equipment Corporation in the 80's.

So I signed up for a Doritos demo last week, and the email never arrived; nor was it spam-filtered. I even did it twice, with no luck.

Steinberg's website sucks big time. If you don't use it for a couple of months, you have to sign up all over again, and they very non-intuitively split the "store" part from the rest, with yet another login, yet visually the sites share a style that makes you think you're still at the same site, so it gets very confusing. And you get logged out every time you do something new at the site; same session.

Well, it turned out that the Doritos cross-grade from Finale wasn't eligible for the recent sales anyway, so timing-wise it's not that critical. Just wondering if anyone else successfully received a download link and eLicenser code for a Doritos demo or not.

I'm calling it Doritos in honour of MLC, and as that's how I feel about it right now, given how much time I lost attempting to get a demo to try.
