Yep, I got the email a bit earlier this afternoon, and hope to install it tonight, but am not yet on El Capitan so won't be able to report on the promised compatibility.

Looks like they've done a lot of work, so that's good. Glad to see they remain actively involved in development.

I see that one of the features is that Finale 2014.5 can play back at frequencies other than 44.1 kHz. I hope that means that when we start up Finale, it won't suddenly screw up recording in Digital Performer by changing my 828's sample rate for the rest of the session (though that hasn't happened to me lately, since I learned that lesson and avoid running them simultaneously now).

The program installs itself as a separate application from 2014 rather than updating it, so it should be trivial to go back to 2014 if it turns out there are bugs in the initial release of 2014.5.

That will be nice if true. :woohoo:

My issue wasn't so much Finale/DP as it was that Dragon Dictate runs only at 48kHz when using a supported headset. I was promised that conflict would be fixed by this update. I certainly hope so. If not, I'm back to re-booting every time I switch.

Since DP runs at either resolution, it wasn't the problem, just something caught in the middle.

Unless you're already running DP. Then the audio engine stops with an error. I'll test that in a bit (no pun intended).

UPDATE: Repaired permissions and restarted and all seems well. Much thanks to my hobbit friend for helping me with that.

Finale still hi-jacks the sample rate to 44.1. Best to open Finale first, then DP. Finale will tolerate other sample rates if another program makes the change after it is open. How kind of it ...
