RIP Peter Alexander

Post by mhschmieder »

Not sure how many people here were familiar with this music educator who also was a music software reseller, made lots of music and software tutorials, and had come up with his own unique educative techniques.

It was a big shock to me to find out he had passed towards the end of the holiday season.

He was especially well known as an active contributor at vi-control.net, which is a forum frequented by composers who use virtual instruments.

Other than the announcement at vi-control.net from about a week ago, I can find no info. I went to Alexander Publishing's website and searched obits for Virginia as well as specifically Petersburg VA, but nothing came up. Perhaps the family is very private about the whole thing and didn't want one.

Through a friend of mine, Peter recommended my purchase of LASS about a year ago. I certainly appreciated his knowledge and input.

Very sad to hear this. I learned a huge amount from his orchestration course.

I received a group email this afternoon from his widow. She has now posted a eulogy at the Alexander Publishing website. He died of a massive heart attack; there was no health warning beforehand, so it was unexpected.
