10 Ways to Ruin a Song
I normally read these, chuckle and discard but this one is pretty good.

I like #7 especially... about elapsed time. I've FORCED this on myself and strive hard to stay under 4 minutes or if I go past 4, only by a few seconds. I can't imagine going over 5 minutes now.

For sure, #7. Even a few Beatles songs had one too many repeats.James Steele wrote:I like #7 especially... about elapsed time. I've FORCED this on myself and strive hard to stay under 4 minutes or if I go past 4, only by a few seconds. I can't imagine going over 5 minutes now.

It's one of the things I admire about David Gates (Bread). Back when radio was king, you learned how to get in and get out quickly. David's many hits with Bread were a tutorial on economy and how to say a LOT in a short amount of time.
