Pro Tools 2018 and 624 AVB (Thunderbolt)

Hello all,
I'm brand new to the forum, and also new to MOTU in general.
I Recently bought a 624 Interface, and a Stage B-16 for my recording studio. I'm using the B-16 for its mic pres and using AVB to connect to the 624. The 624 is connected to my Audio Workstation via Thunderbolt.
My Workstation is Windows 10 Pro, Xeon E5-2680 2.5GHz (12 core/24thread) and 32GB RAM.
The issue I'm having is that when I launch Pro Tools 2018.1, the 624 sometimes doesn't appear. When it does, if Pro Tools need to change sample rate for a session, ProTools goes "not responding" as I watch the Sample-rate change on the 624.
When it does work, I need to run my buffer size at 512 at 48k in order to not receive any clicks in my audio. For comparison, I was able to run my Behringer interface via USB at 128 buffer on 48k!
Are there tricks to optimizing the 624 with Pro Tools? Should I ditch Thunderbolt, and simply try running USB3?
Any help is hugely appreciated - I currently have a quite expensive, functionally useless setup.
Thanks!
Bob
