828mkii slaved to spdif--what signal goes to word clock out?

Post by buenavista »

I am currently using my Apogee mini me as the master clock to my 828mkii. There is no other way to link the two digitally since the mini me only has spdif out.

So, when the 828 is slaved to a master via spdif, what does word clock out on the 828 reference? Does it output the 828 internal clock, or the clock that the 828 is slaved to? Or is this really one and the same thing since the apogee and motu are locked together.

I guess what I really need to know in practical terms, is can I phase lock an additional digital device via word clock out, so that that new device is phased locked with the 828 and the mini me?
