Ultralite MKIII and Daisychaining

Post by CDinkle »

Hello, quick question:

Can I daisy chain another MOTU unit into the FW400 port of my Ultralite MKIII Hybrid, and then use the USB in the Ultralite to go into the computer? I am using a Windows PC and am looking for a way to get more inputs. I figure I could purchase an older 828 or 2408 and hook it up as stated above. Has anyone tried daisy chaining this way? Thanks!

Sorry, I asked the same thing of tech support - you cannot use the firewire and the USB at the same time. (Well, go ahead and ask tech support via phone anyway in case they've changed their tune. Let me know!) :-)

Also, I found daisy-chaining to be problematic with it going out of sync a lot. If that happens to you, try disabling the MOTU Audio Wave for 64-bit driver to see if it clears up. I only use USB now, but that created issues with the USB, and may have been the culprit when I was attempting to daisy-chain via firewire last year.
