Motu4pre doesn't work on Windows 7/8/9 64/86 Bit (Solved)

Post by LostSoundStudio »

Friends, this is my first time writing and I came here only to share with you the problems/ nightmares I had with MOTU4Pre and the solution that I've found.
Because I needed help and I saw people posting stuff like "I found the solution"
And people with the same problem kept asking what was the solution.

THE PROBLEMS I had were:
1 No signal, through any asio type coming in PC
2 not listening the device on the recording device
3 Crashing the DAW when 4pre connected via any asio
4 MOTU's software relating to 4pre acting weird
faders jumping to mute , turning off 48V etc
5 Basically MOTU 4 pre wasnt there.

THE SOLUTION I made is:
GOING into the BIOS and basically returning to stone age (USB 2.0)
Now what you need to do here (depending on bios) you have to turn to 2.0
on any setting relating to USB such as:
1 Legacy USB support (set that DISABLED)
2 USB 3.0 (set that DISABLED)
3 XHCI Mode (set that DISABLED as well) / or try setting this to MANUAL (it worked for me, if not just go for the disabled)

* Please note that the XHCI Mode is relating to gigabyte z87 hd3 MOTHERBOARD (idk if other motherboards have this option - but its related to the way the usb port acts (2.0/3.0) and having it on Auto or Smart auto, doesnt work that 'smart' for 4pre.

Best of luck,
Let me know if that worked!
