Problems with 828x on windows

Post by memecode »

I have a (new to me) 828x connected via USB to a Windows 7 x64 machine. I had to reinstall the drivers a couple of times but I think they are good now. 2nd time I had the device unplugged. I've set the sample rate to 48k using the control panel.

When I try and play audio from anything the app just hangs. No audio comes out any of the channels. e.g. a web browser, media player, rèaper using ASIO.

The playback devices setting for output in windows is "MOTU Analog 1-2" which I've plugging into my mixer. Can't get anything out of that or the "phones" output. Tried all the other ones.

I've done a factory reset on the device.

So I'm not sure what to try next... ideas?

(I did read the tech support FAQ. Nothing seemed particularly relevant).

FYI I just tried it with my Macbook and Logic and it's working ok there. Probably not the hardware... but a windows issue.

After plugging it back into windows I have sound. Hmmm. Well till next time.

Well I love how whisper quiet the audio is with no input. My old FA-101 would telegraph all the pops and clicks going on in the computer. But it died last week after 15 something years.

I think for others that run into issues, here is what the procedure should be:

Code: Select all

Unplug interface if it's plugged in
Download and install the audio drivers (reboot if needed)
do
{
    unplug if needed..
    re-plug interface...
}
while (driver install popup appears); // 3 times? More or less?

Test interface...
