i'm going to show off my Nubyness here....i have a 2408mk3 w/ 424pci card.....i was thinkin about getting an 828 for the Mic pres.......can you run the 828 thru the pci card.....i know the 828 is already Firewire...but just curious...doesnt the card help with some of the processing ???

The short answer is no. You cannot plug an 828 into a 424. Besides the fact that this can't work, you risk harming one or the other.

The long answer begins with it depends on what you are doing and how. You can use ADAT optical to connect the 828 to your 2408 to add additional inputs. There are a few other things you can do.

Otherwise, the 828 goes to a USB or FW port and runs parallel to the 2408 into the 424.
