MOTU Ultralite MK3 Hybrid USB & FW NIGHTMARE!! Win7 64bit

Post by electronicfakir »

The whole problem started when I upgraded my PC, and installed:

Aus H81m-cs motherboard
Intel i5-4440 processor
corsair 16 GB Ram
Windows 7 Ultimate

And ever since my soundcard would not work with USB. On startup it would:

a) Sometimes play sound for 5 seconds followed by a constant high
frequency squeak and a signal/level surge on Output channel no.6 (!).

b) Upon restarting the soundcard no sound at all.

After visiting various forums etc., i tried many things, some of them are:

a) Updating firewire/usb drivers
b) Updating Firmware
c) Disabling on board/internal sound card.
d) Disabling USB 3.0 in motherboard BIOS

I even disabled parking function in my cpu cores (I read somewhere!)

But no use!

So then I went for a firewire card. I got a locally made Ti chip set card (cant find branded ones available in India). And it doesn't read my MOTU ultralite mk3 hybrid.

The Ti Chipset no. on the Card is XIO2200A.

My 64 bit Window 7 PC reads the card and mentions that it is a TI chipset on it, but when I connect Firewire cable through the card to my soundcard, PC doesnt read it. I have tried various Firewire cables.

So now, i have three primary questions:

a) WHy is the USB not working? It has worked flawlessly for 5 years on various computers: Mac or PC. Is it the procesor/Ram/motherboard? What can be done?

b) Which Firewire card i recommended by MOTU? I know that Motu recommends TI chipset, but can you give me a Brand name and model which is surely going to work with my motu?

c) I have vaguely read about driver conflicts within windows with firewire cards. I there something I can do which I havent done yet; driver/bios settings wise?

Please reply quickly as I am on a deadline and I have VERY little time to figure it out! (3 month project, one month in, i am yet to start!)

Thank You

See this post and try those steps out.

Especially if you tried installing and uninstalling several times, you may find the same nightmare that I did.

Good luck!
