Motu 24 i/o. Output 15 gives only noise

Hi there,

I want to expand my motu 424 system on my 2008 Mac pro and can buy a motu 24 i/o but it has a problem on output 15.

It outputs only noise and isn't usable.

Is this a easy fix? Or do you say, dont buy it and get one that is good?

Already own a 2408mk3 and a 24i/o and still in need for 2 more 24 i/o units cause im switching to itb mixing. But they seem hard to get now that i need them.

Not quite enough information. Have you installed it to find one bad channel or is a seller telling you that there is a problem with a unit you are considering?

If the later, you might consider giving MOTU a call to see if rebuilt units are available under their exchange program and what the price is.

i dont have it yet, was wondering if it is worth driving for because it is a long drive and is it worth taking it tot a repairguy?

so yeah the seller informed me about noise on output 15.

to bad they are rare now on secondhandmarket.

MOTU neither publishes schematics nor can you get many parts.

Although it may be possible for repair guy to isolate a component and replace it, if it is proprietary to MOTU, you'll be out of luck.

Call MOTU and find out if exchange units are available.

OTOH, if it's inexpensive enough and only one channel is bad, it might be worth taking the chance.

They have an exchange program? I did not know that I need a 8pre.

It depends. Many older units are no longer available. Best to call.
