828x vs 828mk3 Hybrid question

Hey MOTU users,

New member here, and I have some questions that I was hoping someone could help me out with....and I apologize in advance if this has already been covered in another thread before.....

Other than the obvious difference that one is thunderbolt/usb & the other is firewire/usb, is there any other differences between the 2 units?

I would think that with the 828x being a latter generation unit that there would have been some improvements & upgrades made, but I cannot find any info on that. On the 828x website, it only lists the 828mk3 as a legacy unit if you want to go with firewire...nothing else.

And does anyone know if they fixed the glitch from the older 828 units where they would suddenly play some squealing white noise at full volume that I have read about?

I'm asking cause I'm seriously thinking about buying the 828x, so any info or advise from anyone here would be greatly appreciated! This would be my main interface via USB for my DAW (using Pro Tools 11 on Windows 7 PC)

Not according to MOTU. Some of us asked in person at the 2014 NAMM.
