Audio Wire

Post by larbok »

Hi,
Is there any difference between the Audio wire used on the 2408Mk2 and the 2408Mk3?
Thanks you!

If you are trying to make a FW-400 cable work or are trying to figure out which cable in the box is the AudioWire, this may help.

The original AW cable has a slightly different connector than a FireWire cable. Peeling back the insulation on a FW connector about 3/16" generally works. Use an Xacto knife, single edged razor blade or similar tool.

I have only owned a 1st gen 2408 -- these predate FireWire, BTW. If MOTU changed connectors on the later versions so that an FW cable just works, I have never heard.

All AudioWire cables are the same; I've used the system since the 2408mkI and there's been no change AFAICT.

I've always used firewire cables with no problems.

That works for many. For others, it doesn't work without modification of the connectors.
