828 hybrid mk3 ADAT static noise skipping across channels

Post by jeraux »

My first post:
Static noise skipping across the ADAT channels of whichever ADA8000 I turn on second. I've reversed the order and the samething happens - indicating that both units are working properly - hopefully.

One post described a similiar situation as 'static noise skipping across the ADAT channels' but did not mention a fix other than to try hooking up ADAT OUT cables from the 828 to the ADA8000 ADAT IN's (currently the 828 only has ADAT IN cables from the outs on the ADA8000 units)

Strange little issue, I am new to ADAT and suspect it's just inexperience.

The 828 hybrid mk3 is set to Internal (clock source) and both the ADA8000's are set to 44.1 khz (slave) and again - whichever one is turned on first - works fine.

I appreciate any input - thx

follow up:
1. bought the other two toslink cables and hooked them up - it
did not fix the issue.
2. updated firmware to version 1.01
3. motu audio console: changed clock to 48000, internal
4. set both behringer units to Slave ADAT IN. FYI - There are two options
available on the back of these units - Slave (world clock and ADAT IN)
and MASTER (48000 and 41000) I selected Slave ADAT IN on both units. I had
previously had MASTER 41000 selected on both units but the second unit
but again, the second unit would get the static noise skipping across its
channels.

Somewhere in steps 2 through 4 the issue went away. I am still a beginner with ADAT and I have not done any recording with this setup yet; but, everything is quiet in the headphones!

Hope this helps someone.

48 or 44.1 are the MASTER options - not 48000 and 41000! sorry
