828 mk3 optical problem with 8pre & UA 4-710

Post by mysticalcracker »

I am getting pops when I hook up them both up via optical. I've tried everything. Has anybody had luck expanding an extra 16 channels? The 8 pre doesn't have a clock out. Both units work on their own and on each of the banks. I'm lost.

Also, can I hook the 8 pre up via FireWire? And hook up the 4-710 via lightpe?

Thanks

I'm running the exact same setup and am having similar issues, but I get a constant hiss coming from the first channel on the UA. Like you said, everything works fine separately. Have you had any luck figuring it out?

I have my 2408-2 and 828-3 linked via ADAT. I find that using ADAT for clocking always leaves one channel not properly synced, and I think others have noticed the same. I set up the 828 as the master and use wordclock connections instead. That solved the problem for me.
