Help. Original MOTU 896 ADAT out not working.

I just got an original 896 and I have been trying to feed the inputs of it to the ADAT out into my saffire pro 40 to be able to track 16 inputs at a time. I have downloaded all drivers from MOTUs site, have gone into the setup and switched to adat out, and the monitor to adat out. Meters don't even show as sending anything out. Am I missing something?

If it's anything like the 828mk series, you have to set up a mix in CueMix (or dial one in) that routes the analog inputs to the ADAT outputs. I believe there is a document at MOTU Tech Support that outlines the process (search ADAT).

I've searched out that and apparently cuemix only works with the HD and mk series of the 896. Not the original that I have. I have it installed but when I try to open cuemix will just say, "no compatibale MOTU hardware found".
