828mk2 MIDI Ghost?? RESOLVED

Post by collinthebrewer »

The MIDI I/O lights are flashing like crazy on my MOTU 828mk2. The kicker is I have no MIDI devices connected. Not even MIDI cables... This happens with the interface connected to or disconnected from the computer.

The problem accompanying this is the CueMix is totally jacked up. Volume faders snap back to a position as if actually connected to something. The bus volumes are moving as well. Its making my device unusable.

I've had this for about 6 months and this issues is brand new. Any thoughts?

I am unable to. I cannot successfully press VAL to complete it. I think the MIDI is interrupting me. The Bus volume keeps popping up.

I think a call to MOTU tech support Monday AM might be the best route at this point. You definitely have something strange going on.

I opened the unit and reseated the ribbon connectors and the firmware chip. Problem solved for now!

Use a little DeOxit Gold from Caig labs on those connections, and the problem will never return.
