Motu 8Pre Sound drop outs. Advice please

Post by Jurassicdave »

Hi Guys

I've just upgraded to a new faster PC and i'm having alot of problems with the Motu 8Pre Interface. On the old system it ran like a dream. But now i'm having alot of issues on my new machine. I first got alot of crackles and pops even with the Legacy Firewire driver set up so I reverted back to good old windows XP and now no pops or crackles. Yay! But I do still get drop outs in sound like its Lagging. I've tried to adjust the samples from 512 downwards even all the way to 64 but it still lags. If anyone has a solution to this issue it would be greatly Appreciated

My setup
DELL Optiplex GX620
3.2 Dual Core
4 GB Ram
Nvidia 8600GT Graphics card
Firewire PCI Slot (Have tried the Texas Instrument on too and same issue)
Interface Motu 8PRE with updated Drivers
Running on Windows XP

A bit late in coming to this, but..

You say you've tried "adjusting the samples from 512 downwards...". I suspect you need to adjust upwards. On my PC with Intel Core 2 Quad @ 3GHz (with Win 7 32 bit) I have to run at 1024 samples to be pretty sure that drop-outs etc. are not going to occur!
